James P. Sargen, CEO and Chairman of the Advisory Board, established TriActive America several years ago and then founded TriActive Kids with Business Development Director Joanne Eglash. Jim focuses on the corporate direction and goals of the company, keeping the team focused on the goal of providing meaningful strength training and fitness components designed for all ages and levels of fitness. In steering the company's course, Jim emphasizes the importance of carrying through with the company's Mission Statement: "Whatever you need, wherever your location, regardless of your budget, we want to work with you and for you to provide fitness opportunities designed specifically for you!!"
Jim has an impressively long tradition of blazing trails in all areas of development and management. He began his administrational career with ten years in city management, serving several cities in Northern California. Jim subsequently utilized his city management and planning background in developing a variety of vibrant new communities in the San Francisco Bay area. He then extended his influence into the international area by serving as a consultant to world-renowned architects and builders for projects in Hong Kong and South East Asia. The time devoted to these consulting projects, combined with his undergraduate concentration in comparative Asian societies and several trips to China, created the first building blocks leading to TriActive America. In addition to his studies and professional experience, Jim's personal focus on healthy diet and exercise provided the spark that caused him to adapt the Chinese paradigm of outdoor fitness activities with America's need to solve its obesity and inactivity problems.
Named the Philanthropist of the Year for California Community Colleges in 2001, Jim sets a high standard of daily dedication to workouts and thoughtful nutrition. Thus TriActive America, in its dedication to providing new outdoor fitness opportunities and contributing to the ideal of advancing national fitness, is an embodiment of Jim's personal and professional goals. TriActive Kids extends that tradition to make exercise a family affair and help organizations bring exercise and fitness to children.
